The Jamaica Symphony Orchestra Academy offers a structured pathway for musicians of all ages and abilities. Our program includes five progressive levels of orchestral training, designed to help musicians grow from beginner to preprofessional.
Beginning String Classes: *Violin, Viola, Cello, Double Bass
Introduces basic techniques in string performance using Suzuki and Traditional methods. No prior experience necessary although the preparatory class is recommended for very young students with no musical background.

*There is a mandatory practice requirement to be successful in the class
Pre-Twinkle Class (from *3 yrs): No instrument needed
Intended for those with no music background, this class introduces students to foundational skills necessary for successful music learning: pitch, rhythm, basic theory and even *instrument identification (which instrument(s) are most suitable for you/your child).
*Children 6 yrs and under need to be accompanied by a participating Adult

Beginner Classes
Ideal for newcomers, this class introduces basic techniques in string performance, using Suzuki and traditional methods. No prior experience is needed.Pre-Orchestra (Level 1)
For students with basic string skills, this level focuses on early ensemble playing and music reading.Prep Orchestra (Levels 2-5)
Musicians advance through graded orchestral literature, building their technique and performance practice.High School Orchestra (Levels 5-8)
A full symphonic experience for advanced students, featuring standard orchestral repertoire and preparation for higher levels.Pre-Professional Orchestra (Post Grade 8)
Our top-level ensemble, for musicians ready to tackle advanced symphonic works and prepare for professional settings.
